Generalized Parton Distributions of Nucleons and Nuclei

Generalized Parton Distributions (GPDs) of nucleons and nuclei describe the responce of the hadronic target in hard exclusive reactions such as Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering (DVCS). GPDs contain rich information about distributions and correlations of partons (quarks and gluon) in hadrons. In particular, nucleon GPDs provide an access to the 3D image of the nucleon and to the total angular momentum of the nucleon carried by quarks and gluons. Nuclear GPDs hold the promise to shed a new light on many puzzles of hard processes with nuclear targets such as the origin of the EMC effect and medium modifications of nucleon properties, the role of non-nucleonic degrees of freedom in nuclei, the nature of small-x nuclear effects.

I will discuss phenomenology of GPDs of nucleons and nuclei, using as an example a new dual parameterization of GPDs. I will show that our approach provides a good description of all available data on DVCS with nucleons and nuclei (DESY and Jefferson Lab) and allows us to make predictions for the future experiments (Jefferson Lab at 6 and 12 GeV and the future Electron-Ion Collider).
